move cursor over thumbnails to enlarge Schools Projects HAMPTON SCHOOL Hampton, Middlesex Project Information EXTERIOR WALL MOSAIC Theme: Movement Age:11+ Time: 4 days workshops, 1 day preparation, 2 days installation Location: exterior wall in an inner courtyard in the school This mosaic was commissioned to commemorate the school's long history. The design and colour choices came from the art students and workshops were set up at the school to create the mosaic. The students studied various aspects of mosaic including colour and contrast, materials and texture, tools and their usage, as well as mosaic basics, such as spacing, cutting and sticking. The piece was designed to enhance an inner courtyard near the art department, creating the beginnings of a gallery space and was installed directly onto an exterior wall bringing permanent colour and texture to the space.
