SCIART - a unique Science-Art project
Project Information
Initiators/Organisers: The University of The West of England (UWE) in collaboration with Mosaic Art Ltd.
Participating School: King Edmund Community College, Yate, Bristol.
Funding: Research Councils UK - National Science Week Awards 2007
Objectives: To raise awareness of contemporary science and
to enhance young people's experience of science and
inspire the next generation of researchers.
SCIART is a unique project in which SCIENCE and ART meet in a new and exciting way.
UWE organised a day of interactive research sessions on robotics, forensic science and climate change which did not fail to excite and amaze the group of year 8 students. The young people were subsequently asked to put pen to paper, but this time not to write essays or answer questions,
but rather to visualise the impressions gained from the science sessions as well as their ideas of the future.

The photos on this page show the science sessions as well as some of the drawings produced by the young people afterwards. Art Mosaic Design combined them into a SCIART wall picture.
