move cursor over thumbnails to enlarge Community Projects NEW PUPIL REFERRAL UNIT - Andover Project Information THE NEW PUPIL REFERRAL UNIT, (Phase 2) (2008) Exerior Wall Mosaic - "SMILE" (size: 3.5mx3.8m Commissioned and funded by Hampshire County Council Design Inspiration: the Girls' interest in popart & music. AGE: 14-17 The second of the 'popart' masterpieces was produced by a group of girls, not in mainstream education, working towards their art exams. The design inspiration came from Miami Artist: Romero Britto, Popart as well as the girls' interest in music, and after researching the subject, the girls produced drawings on the theme which were subsequently worked into an overall design by Mosaic Art. All girls enthusiastically participated in the creation of the mosaic, which MOSAIC ART installed in a quiet courtyard of the new PRU building. The North West Hampshire "Constituency News" gives a short account of the opening of the new building and features a photo of the mosaic.
