move cursor over thumbnails to enlarge Community Projects THESSALY COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT (2004) Project Information THESSALY COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT (2004) Battersea, London, U.K. Aim: to involve the local community in the development of the centre garden After the success of the mosaic project, the Centre was keen to continue with activities that involve the community. Local children and community members took part in crating a new garden. Participants researched plants, growing techniques, composting etc. A shed, a pergola and raised beds were constructed and one bed was planted with vegetables and herbs for use in the Centre's kitchen. We also planted several fruit trees and put a water butt under the shed's drainpipe to collect rainwater. A gardening club was created and will see to the continued upkeep of the new garden.
